A belly cast is a three-dimensional plaster sculpture of a woman's pregnant abdomen as a keepsake of her pregnancy. Belly casts are often made during the seventh or eighth month of pregnancy. Some women choose to have their belly cast done privately in their home, while others prefer to have their belly cast done with the help of friends and family as a part of their baby shower or Blessingway. Creating a belly cast takes around an hour to complete. After the cast is complete, 24 hours must be allowed for drying and an additional 24-48 hours for completion of the cast which includes reinforcing, smoothing and decoration. You may have your belly cast decorated in any way you like, or you may choose to decorate your belly cast yourself.
